(KXAN) - Connor Zilisch, the winner of last year's Focus Health 250, was denied a repeat win at Circuit of the Americas Saturday. Despite going back and forth with Shane Van Gisbergen early in the race, car trouble set Zilisch back and it was all SVG from there. "The last yellow came out, and then we pitted and thankfully a lot of people pitted with us, and then the restart was just awesome," Van Gisbergen said. "They kind of pushed each other wide and I came through." This is the first time Van Gisbergen has won at this track and it's been the talk of the week. Despite his road course dominance, COTA has previously snubbed SVG. "What an awesome day to be up front all day. A lot of action on restarts, but stoked to finally win here," Van Gisbergen said. Van Gisbergen will also race in this week's Cup Series race, but Tyler Reddick is at the top of the pole for that one. Reddick would make history as the first driver to win all three of the first races of the season should he win "Starting up front is huge. We did the same thing last year and Shane and Kyle were able to get around us early," Reddick said. "We need to maintain that, hang onto it this time around." The NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series heads to Phoenix Raceway next week for the GOVX 200. You can catch that race Saturday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. ET on The CW.
