(NEXSTAR) – Another U.S. service member has died following an Iranian attack on troops in the Middle East earlier this month, the military confirmed on Sunday. U.S. Central Command said the service member, who died Saturday night, was injured during Iran's initial attacks in Saudi Arabia on March 1. This marks the seventh U.S. military member to be killed in action during the so-called Operation Epic Fury. The soldier will not be identified until 24 hours after their next of kin has been notified. "Major combat operations continue," U.S. Central Command said Sunday. The six Army Reserve soldiers killed in an Iranian drone strike in Kuwait on March 1 – the first American casualties of the conflict – returned home on Saturday. President Trump attended the dignified transfer of the service members – Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien, 45, of Indianola, Iowa; Capt. Cody Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida; Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan, 54, of Sacramento, California; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska; and Sgt. Declan Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, lowa, who was posthumously promoted from specialist – at Dover Air Force Base. “A very sad situation, to greet the families of the heroes coming home from Iran, coming home in a different manner than they thought they’d be coming home,” the president told reporters. While he promised to avenge their deaths, Trump has warned that more U.S. casualties are likely. The war, which Israel and the United States launched with airstrikes on Feb. 28 that killed Iran's supreme leader, has killed at least 1,230 people in Iran, at least 397 in Lebanon and at least 11 in Israel, according to officials. In Israel on Sunday, the military reported the first soldier deaths since the war began, saying two were killed in southern Lebanon while Israel targets the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah. Three people were injured in Israel in an afternoon strike. U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have vowed to press ahead with the coordinated campaign against Iran, even as Washington's stated war aims have varied. Trump told ABC News he wants a say in who comes to power in Iran once the war is over, adding that new leader “is not going to last long” without his approval.
