(NEXSTAR) – Colombian singer-songwriter Yeison Jiménez was among six people killed after a plane crash on Saturday. Authorities said Jiménez, 34, and five other people were flying to Medellín on Saturday. Jiménez was reportedly scheduled to perform there that night, according to PEOPLE. The plane crashed between Paipa and Duitama, about 100 miles northeast of Bogotá, The Technical Directorate for Accident Investigation said in a press release. Authorities have not indicated what may have caused the crash, but said all six occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Juan Manuel Rodríguez, Óscar Marín, Jefferson Osorio, and Weisman Mora, identified as members of Jiménez's team, were also killed in the crash, as was the pilot, Captain Fernando Torres Rojas. Mora shared a video from inside the plane on social media moments before the crash, TMZ and PEOPLE reported. The crash remains under investigation, according to authorities. "Today, we not only say goodbye to an artist; we say goodbye to a son, a brother, a friend, a human being full of dreams and courage, who transformed his story into a source of hope for thousands," a translated statement from Jiménez's representatives reads. They added that his "legacy remains," and that additional details about tributes for the singer will be released soon. Jiménez is survived by his wife and three children, according to TMZ. Details about the other victims were not immediately available. The singer-songwriter had become popular in the Colombian "música popular" genre, Billboard reported. Two years ago, Jiménez became the first artist in the genre to have three sell-out shows at Bogotá’s Movistar Arena, the outlet added, and last year sold out Bogotá’s El Campín Stadium.
