(WFXR) - Justin Allgaier won the NFP A250 at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday night, claiming his second career grandfather clock trophy. The victory followed a significant multi-car wreck with 16 laps remaining that eliminated 12 drivers from the race. The accident reshaped the final laps of the event at the Ridgeway, Va., track. The race changed significantly with 16 laps remaining when a major accident involved 12 different drivers. Allgaier, the race winner, noted the unpredictable nature of competing at the short track. "It's tough, especially when you get down to the end of these races," Allgaier said. "You know that anything can happen. And it did, unfortunately. And I hate seeing it for all the competitors, right?" Allgaier explained that avoiding the late-race wreckage was a narrow margin. "I think that that makes days like tonight more special because you could have easily been one row back and been caught up in it," Allgaier said. The victory earns Allgaier the traditional grandfather clock trophy awarded at Martinsville. "So really proud of our team, proud of the effort to come to Martinsville and to have a car as good as we did today, to win the race, to be my second Martinsville clock," Allgaier said. "There is nothing cooler in this sport than really iconic trophies. And that Martinsville clock is iconic as it gets," he added. Following the conclusion of the Saturday race, Denny Hamlin secured the pole position for Sunday's Cook Out 400, marking his fifth career pole at the speedway. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Series is heading down to Rockingham Speedway in North Carolina next for the North Carolina Education Lottery 250 Presented by Black's Tire. Catch that race Saturday, April 4th at 2:30 p.m. ET on The CW. All facts in this report were gathered by journalists employed by Nexstar.
