(KTLA) – Britney Spears was arrested in Ventura County, California, on Wednesday night, records from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office show. The pop star was arrested on March 4 at 9:28 p.m. and booked at 3:02 a.m. on March 5. She was released hours later at 6:07 a.m. The records did not list a reason for Spears' arrest. TMZ and People, both citing law enforcement sources, reported that the "Gimme More" singer was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI, but that has yet to be publicly confirmed by officials. A representative for Spears, in a statement obtained by People, called the reason for her arrest "an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable."
